1.The hard part is that you cannot feel any of it

There is no pain. No dizziness. Nothing that tells you anything at all is happening.

 

That is the difficult thing about heart health. It goes on quietly, inside the artery wall, over years. By the time a body gives you a symptom, a good deal has already happened.

Aging garlic changes that. Over 24 months, the unstable compounds convert into something else: S-allylcysteine, or SAC. SAC is stable, it dissolves in water, and the body can absorb it.

This is the question we are asked most, and it is a fair one. If you cannot smell it, is there anything in there?

 

It is the wrong way round. The smell of garlic comes from allicin and the sulphur compounds sitting around it — the same unstable ones that do not survive the journey. Ageing breaks them down. What is left behind is the SAC.

 

So the absence of smell is not something added afterwards to cover up a weakness. It is the evidence that the ageing actually happened.

5. It sits alongside your GP’s plan. Not instead of it.
